The Best Advice for Experienced Real Estate Agents

Experienced agents, it’s time to get on the tech train!

Technology is rapidly expanding and constantly growing. It’s an incredibly useful tool in helping agents become more efficient.

Buyers and sellers are tech savvy. New agents, who are often millennials, are incredibly tech savvy. You experienced agents, who have been in the business for 30+ years, it’s time to embrace technology or you will certainly fall behind. It’s time to step up your game and join the 21st century.

Don’t worry! You still have tons credibility because you have all that experience. You’ve dealt with every kind of client, and every condition of property. You’ve handled terrible agents, the economy tanking and everything in between. There’s no doubt that veteran Realtors know the in’s and out’s of real estate. But new agents who embrace technology are going to have an easier time moving up the ladder. To stay on top, you have to adapt.

It’s not always easy to learn new skills but the benefits will definitely outweigh the hard work. Technology is helping us get the deal done quickly and more efficiently. It gives us the opportunity to spend time doing what we are really good at, generating leads.

Here’s the catch, as tricky as technology can be, you are still doing the same thing you have been doing throughout your entire career.

Things that are the same:

  • Everything (databases, lead generation, building rapport, etc.)

Things that are different:

  • Less paper cuts
  • Less fax machine sounds

Change is hard. Getting unstuck is hard. You have to get out of the box. Start small. Adopt one new thing at a time. Get comfortable with with that one thing. Then add something else. Try texting your clients, set up a Facebook page or implement an electronic All About You form. There are lots of little things that you can implement.

Soon enough you’ll be showing clients homes in VR (it’s ok, you can Google that).
