The #1 Reason I Keep Preaching Referrals

One of my favorite expressions is, what you give away in slices will come back to you in loaves. It’s applies to so many things. I’m always telling you that you have to go the extra mile for your clients, treat them like they are VIPs. I do this because I believe that’s what made my business so successful.

Up until now, I’ve only been able to tell you stories from my glory days of being a Realtor. I talk about how I did the Ty’s 35 and eventually was rolling in 30 referrals a month. I proselytize about how I built relationships and grew my sphere of influence.

But just last week, I received two real estate referrals!

Maybe you aren’t surprised but here’s the reason this is so crazy:

I haven’t been a practicing agent in over 5 years and I’m STILL getting referrals.

Sure, I follow industry trends. I engage with you all, practicing Realtors, every single day. But I don’t actually help people buy and sell property anymore. I don’t even do my Ty’s 35! While I may have my finger on the pulse of real estate, I haven’t been a practicing agent since 2011!

The residual effects of my systems and practices are still bringing in referrals all these years later and that’s exactly what’s so crazy.

Look, I’m not trying to brag. What I’m trying to tell you is, trust the process. All this content that I bring to you, it works!

I can hear some of you protesting, “Tyler! I’m following your advice, I’m putting your systems in place and I haven’t gotten any new referrals.” To that I say, “Give it time.”

Those two referrals totally fired me up. They made me think about how much I love real estate and how it felt when business was boomin’! It made me nostalgic for the days when I was a Realtor and I was getting tons of referrals. I was at the top of my game.

But I didn’t start there. I did the same work that you are doing now.

Real Estate is not a sprint business; it’s a marathon business. We are in it for the long haul. You have to run a lot of miles, over a lot of different terrain, before you reach the finish line. Anyone who gives you infomercial advice about overnight success is a con-artist. There is no quick way to go from rookie to rockstar.

Take the items that I give you and actually execute on them. Put systems in place so you are delivering to every single buyer and every single seller. These items are essential for you to be as successful as you can be.

Rewatch some of these videos and get re-inspired. Share it with a new agent in your office who can benefit from this. Let me know about your success! I’m inspired by your stories. It motivates me to keep delivering!

Don’t quit. Don’t give up. You may not have any new referrals yet but it’s still early. You will get business. I promise. Trust the process.
