How to Stop Struggling and Start Winning
I’m struggling as a solo agent and need to learn more about the business. Should I join a team and reduce my commission split to 50/50? Or get a mentor and keep going at it on my own?
So you feel like you’re at a crossroad, and you have decided that your options are either join a team or get a mentor/coach. But here’s the deal: Neither one of those things is going to be a solution or alleviate your struggling.
The Reality of Hiring a Coach
You can get a coach but if you aren’t coachable or open to coaching, you will not see results. If you aren’t willing to do the work that a coach assigns, if you aren’t receptive to being held accountable, then coaching is not going to be an effective solution.
A coach is going to be great IF you have follow-through.
The Reality of Joining a Team
You can join a team but if it’s not the right team, you are sunk. You really have to consider the value that the team is bringing.
A team is going to be great IF you don’t want to generate your own business. And of course, that’s dependent on whether or not the team is good at generating business and providing leads.
What you really need to do is a little self-auditing. Ask yourself the following questions:
- How much work am I really willing to do?
- How much do I want to make?
- What are my goals?
Based on your answers to those questions you then have to ask yourself if you are committed to getting off the struggle bus. It’s all about your WHY.
I feel like a broken record saying this but, there are no quick fixes. It’s a misnomer that if you join a team or get a mentor, you will do more business. You cannot put all your eggs in one basket or another. Whatever choice you make, you have to be willing to do the work.
