What to Do If You Can’t Afford to Go to an Expensive Conference

You know what it’s like to go to the gym in January… it’s packed! You’re fired up. You have big plans to run a marathon or train to get a six pack. And then what happens? You miss a day. Then you miss two days. Then it’s February and you’re barely making it twice a week. And suddenly you’re at IHOP ordering a five stack of pancakes! I know, I’ve totally been there.

It’s so easy to drift from your goals. But seminars, webinars, and continuing education keep us focused on our end goal of generating business. Because being self-employed ain’t easy. You don’t have anyone telling you what you need to to do, or holding you accountable.

You have to stay focused and motivated. Attending trainings and being around people who want to learn and want to get better is really helpful. You can talk about your struggles and successes. It’s such a good opportunity to get motivated and stay engaged.

If you don’t push yourself to keep learning, you’re going to drift. Trainings are such a good way to stay focused and surround yourself with people you can learn from and maybe even spark a little competition.

START YOUR OWN

Professional development can happen at any time. It doesn’t have to be official. Find a few other Realtors and start a little happy hour to talk about strategies and best practices.

FREE EVENTS

There are tons of free webinars and events you can watch. You can do it on your own time or you can get a group of agents together and watch and the discuss the takeaways. The nice thing about webinars is that you don’t have to travel. You can learn from your office (or your couch).

BUSINESS MEETUPS

Of course, there are already established business meetup groups that can give you lots of great motivation and tons of advice.

PAID EVENTS

If you have a budget to go to paid events, you have a lot of options. Some of these conferences are absolutely worth the price, others are not. Do your research.

Whether you have an income or not, you have options for learning something new every month. No excuses!
