VFL Day 2: Draft Day

Draft day is here! Today is all about selecting the best network of partners for your business. Which players are you interested in?

You are the owner of your vendor team and it’s your job to assemble the best team possible. Here are some things you need to know as you go into the season and start drafting your players…er, I mean vendors.

There are 16 categories, or positions, that you need to fill.

The players don’t know you’re drafting them but they are going to be so lucky to work with you. They are pumped!

The fans are your broker. And they are going to be cheering because you are going to seriously increase your gross commission.

Instructions for the Draft

Print out your Draft sheet

  • There are 16 categories to choose from. You’ve got categories like advertising and marketing, automotive, food, legal, transportation, etc.
  • Target one business from each category. You don’t have to write anything down. Literally, just think in your mind what kind of business you want to draft in each category.

Example

For the Food and Restaurant category, you could target a pizza parlor. Consider the pizza places in your area specifically, one that has good pizza! You also may want to consider a mom and pop place because they are more likely to engage in business with you.

It’s also really important that you have a diverse group so you can increase your referrals. You don’t want to pick a bunch of business owners that you already know. Get outside your comfort zone. What businesses have you not connected with?

Homework

You need to have an accountability partner. You need to schedule a 25-30 minute meeting for Day 4 with someone who can hold you accountable.

No excuses! I don’t want to hear about your pulled hammy; I need you to execute!
